Hassan Nasir, Product Management, Kingsway Group
Tell us a bit about your backgroundand what led you to working at Kingsway?
I studied a Masters Degree at University in Aerospace Engineering which gave me the opportunity to work for Rolls Royce working as part of the maintenance, repair and overhaul team, providing resolutions to non-conformance issues.
I really enjoy using Computer Aided Design software and have keen interest in design and development. With my role being principally to resolve non-conformances and using CAD for design and development, it was the perfect fit, especially working in an industry where you can make such a difference in keeping people safe.
So how long have you worked at Kingsway and what do you love about the job?
I joined at start of 2022 and put simply I’m a problem solver with my role making Kingsway products even safer for people who use them. This could be around design, functionality, feel, and quality. I particularly like the fact my contribution is tangible. Managing products and modifications, I have a direct impact on our production, assembly and end user experience.
What does a typical week look like for you and can you tell us about a success story?
Yes my week involves reviewing feedback from our partners on issues, forming proposals, checking feasibility, discussing draft solutions and implementation. We received some feedback on the SWITCH hinge lock sometimes becoming stiff for clinical teams to use. The solution I developed increased smoothness of the mechanism significantly, it is now implemented in the production of all new units, increasing our product quality and making Happy Customers, one of our core values.
What do you see as the main challenges for you in the future?
We work an industry where some of the users are trying to break our products so its quite a unique situation! One of the biggest challenges is ensuring we continue to get it right first time. I work alongside our development team to understand feedback and constantly improve our testing process to help minimize and eliminate potential problems before a product is introduced to a live environment.
And finally when you are not being a professional problem solver, what hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
Relaxing with family and friends! I’m a bit of a foodie, enjoy watching Action, Thriller and Comedy shows and when I get the chance a bit of gaming.
